Strategic Initiatives and Current Developments
JJVS are active in developing strategies for a healthier and fairer society. Following are our major initiatives for the coming years:

Drought-Relief and Water Conservation

JJVS seeks recognition as lead liaison agency for drought relief and water conservation efforts in Rajasthan.

Women and children's health

This recent project establishes a local representative in each village, through the Guni system, who will be responsible for both traditional healing as well as immunization and co-delivery of government preventative health care programmes.

Recognition of traditional health systems

Efforts are being made to get traditional health systems, as practised by the Gunis, to be recognized as a valid form of medicine complimentary with Allopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, and Homeopathy.

Government recognition of Gunis

Gunis must be recognised as Primary Health Workers in order to achieve the government's stated goal of "Health For All by 2010"

National Herbal Garden, Herbarium, and Seed Bank

Development of a formalised herbal garden, herbarium, and seed bank is necessary to protect presently available and threatened medicinal plants.

National Institute of Alternative Medicine

We recommend the development of an integrated institution that provides traditional health care and alternative health systems within a single supportive framework.

Community Development and Guni Training Centre

JJVS plans call for the establishment of a permanent training centre for community development workers and Gunis
